But I don't, so I'm going to rant here. Just a brief warning, this has nothing what-so-ever to do with my art.
You know what irritates the crap out of me when writing papers? Everyone's insistence that i "support my claims" its completely ridiculous. Why should I back up my assertions with some scholar who is merely writing his opinion and backed it up with someone else's opinion who backed it up with someone else's opinion etc etc. when you get to the end of it all, it is still a matter of opinion. I dont want to back up claims when they are musings based of theories of human nature. the reader has heard the idea before and can choose to agree or not. I dont want to back up my claims when they are based on knowledge gleaned from experience, and most importantly, I dont want to have to back up my claims with someone elses musings, just eliminate the middle man. All this insistence for backing up arguments does is repress new ideas. Liberal arts are not sciences! We should not need to follow some sort of scientific method for proving an unprovable argument that is all just a matter of opinion anyway, regardless of how many "supports" you provide.
